Tummy Tuck Plastic Surgery | Inland Empire, California

Abdominoplasty, commonly called tummy tuck, is a cosmetic surgery procedure for people who wish to remove excess skin and fat from the abdominal area to reveal a flatter and firmer tummy in proportion to the rest of the body. The procedure may be performed a standalone surgery, or in combination with liposuction, mommy makeover or other body contouring procedures.

Tummy tuck is a major procedure, particularly when it involves fat reduction, skin tightening and muscle repositioning in both upper and lower abdominal areas. Board certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Daniel Lin provides this surgery to patients in West Covina, Inland Empire, San Gabriel Valley, Chino, Rowland Heights, Baldwin Park, Whittier, Brea, Arcadia, Pasadena, Diamond Bar, and surrounding communities.

Surgical Techniques

Tummy tuck procedure may be performed using any of the following techniques as per the patient’s needs:

Traditional Abdominoplasty

This is a fully tummy tuck cosmetic surgery procedure performed most commonly. The surgeon will create a primary incision from hip to hip, along with few minor incisions around the belly button. Both upper and lower abdominal areas are addressed in this surgery, including tightening of underlying muscles and repositioning of the belly button.

Partial Abdominoplasty

Partial abdominoplasty or mini tummy tuck may be recommended when improvements are needed only in the lower abdomen. Results with this technique are more subtle, and scarring is minimal because only a single small incision is involved. Dr. Lin is an experienced plastic surgeon receiving patients from West Covina, Inland Empire, San Gabriel Valley, Chino, Rowland Heights, Baldwin Park, Whittier, Brea, Arcadia, Pasadena, Diamond Bar, and nearby areas for this procedure.

Endoscopic Abdominoplasty

In this technique, the surgeon will insert a miniature camera attached to an endoscope through an incision in the tummy. This enables the surgeon to view the underlying muscle structure clearly on a monitor. Targeted surgery can be performed with this technique in a relatively less invasive way.

Extended Abdominoplasty

Extended tummy tuck goes beyond the traditional surgery and also involves removal of excess fat and skin from the flanks or love handles on either side of the waist. More comprehensive results and enhanced overall abdominal contour can be achieved with this technique.

Circumferential Abdominoplasty

Some patients may suffer from excessive sagging skin in the abdominal area following a major weight loss. This technique primarily focuses only on removal of excess loose skin, and does not involve fat removal or muscle tightening.

Cost of Tummy Tuck

Abdominoplasty costs can range between $5,000 and $15,000, depending on the choice of surgical technique and several other factors. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons recommends that patients should choose an appropriate tummy tuck surgeon, and cost should only be a secondary consideration.

Initial pain and discomfort can be addressed with pain medications. Swelling and bruising will begin subsiding from second week. Most patients can return to their regular routine or go back to work in about 10 to 14 days. Strenuous exercises and heavy lifting should be avoided for at least four to six weeks following the procedure.
