VS Ultrasound (vShape)

Conveniently located to serve the areas of West Covina, CA

VShape is a high intensity focused ultrasound (HiFu) procedure for body contouring and skin tightening. It’s a multi-faceted treatment designed to rejuvenate your skin in a wide range of areas, including the face, neck, and body. The vShape device can be used in a comfortable, fast, in-office procedure to help patients reshape their body contours.

As we grow older, we may notice our skin doesn’t “bounce back” the way it once did. In addition to a loss of elasticity, we may also see changes in skin texture, the formation of more wrinkles and lines, and the development of more noticeable cellulite on our thighs and buttocks. However, firmer, tighter skin can knock years off our perceived age, making V-Shape an indispensable treatment option!

Shine Cosmetic Surgery provides personalized aesthetic treatments to men and women in West Covina and beyond. Our team of specialists is led by accomplished double board-certified cosmetic and plastic surgeon Dr. Daniel H. Lin. At Shine, we’re ready to show you how a vShape procedure can help you smooth and rejuvenate your skin. Call our office directly at (626) 810-6165, or fill out the inquiry form on our website to book a personal consultation to find out more about HiFu body contouring.

Skin Changes

We’re exposed to the elements daily. Our skin is the main organ that protects us from harmful external pollutants and radiation. However, these factors, and others such as our genetics and our age, can affect how the skin stretches and snaps back. Science shows us that skin laxity is caused by a decrease in dermal collagen fiber functionality and quantity.(1)

About HiFu Ultrasound

Unlike some cosmetic treatments, vShape is non-ablative. This means it doesn’t damage the epidermis – the top layer of the skin. Instead, skin tightening with ultrasound allows focused energy to saturate deeper tissues in the dermis. This non-invasive method means aesthetic professionals can target subcutaneous tissue while avoiding damage to the outer layers of skin.(1)

Areas of Treatment:

  • Around the eyes
  • Temples
  • Jowls
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Jawline
  • Double Chin
  • Neck
  • Upper Arms
  • Thighs
  • Cellulite

Research shows that HiFu treatments not only results in facial lifting and improvement of wrinkles but can also improve skin tone, enhance facial contour, and relieve skin tightness and tension.(3)

Benefits of vShape

  • Tightens Tissue

Collagen fibers form an important part of the framework of our skin. And, as our skin ages, it can sag in unwanted areas. HiFu ultrasound can induce collagen fiber contraction, which can tighten skin and smooth its appearance.

  • More collagen and Elastin

Ultrasound can also enhance collagen production in the skin.(2) vShape energy can cause structural changes in the extracellular matrix, the structural framework of the skin.

  • Reduces Cellulite

vShape’s ultrasound technology can reduce the appearance of cellulite. Common areas our patients choose to treat are the inner and outer thighs, the flanks, and the buttocks.

  • No Downtime, No Hassle

Patients who want a non-invasive way to achieve a smoother silhouette, look no further. A vShape treatment can deliver noticeable results without the need for surgery, and with absolutely no downtime!

  • Cost-Effective

The vShape ultrasound procedure is an alternative to more invasive traditional cosmetic procedures which can also be more costly.

Candidates for vShape

Men and women of any age can get vShape treatment. As it uses safe, non-ablative ultrasound energy, it’s a great choice for people who aren’t ready for a more involved surgery such as an abdominoplasty or a facelift. Candidates for HiFu are often people who have struggled with skin sagging and seen little change, even after improvements to diet and exercise. If you’re thinking of getting vShape treatment, you should be in good overall health and not have any conditions that could adversely affect your treatment.

Personal Consultation

Patients come to our office in West Covina to receive personalized advice and tailored treatment outlines from Dr. Lin. He’ll speak with you about the areas of your body you’re looking to change, and ask you what the goals of your treatment are. If there are many areas you wish to address, Dr. Lin may recommend a series of vShape sessions, or another effective treatment method according to your desired goals.

Preparation

Preparing for vShape is simple! It’s advisable to stay out of the sun and cease taking antibiotics, as these can make the skin more light sensitive. Continue to eat healthily and drink lots of water to stay well hydrated. If you’re prone to cold sores, and you’re getting vShape on your face, we may ask you to take precautionary antiviral medication before and after your treatment. On the day itself, just make sure you’re wearing comfortable clothing and you’ve removed all makeup and skin care products from the area(s) of treatment.

V Shape Procedure

Your vShape treatment is unique to you! There are many different areas of the body HiFu ultrasound can address, many of which can be treated in the same session. The basic procedure involves using a specialized handpiece that extends from the larger ultrasound device. Dr. Lin will ask you to sit in the best position for your procedure before carefully guiding the device across the area of skin you want to tighten or contour. By manipulating the device at specific pressure and settings, Dr. Lin will direct the ultrasound energy into the deep layers of the skin to trigger tissue remodeling and new collagen production. He’ll tailor your treatment according to your plan and adjust settings on the device to ensure the optimal energy levels for tightening, fat removal, and cellulite reduction.

Recovery

There’s very little you have to do after your vShape session. The only side-effect you may notice is slight redness in the area of treatment, which will dissipate after just a few hours. Dr. Lin advises his patients to follow these directions after HiFu ultrasound procedures:

  • Avoid touching or scratching the treatment area
  • Stay out of the sun
  • Avoid drinking alcohol
  • Bathe in cooler water

Results

HiFu ultrasound procedures like vShape can produce great results in a short period of time. However, you may need to wait a few weeks for your body to finish responding to the treatment. Over time, you’ll see tissue changes and firmer, smoother skin. Depending on the specifics of your treatment plan, you can expect to see more significant changes in the appearance of your skin after three to six months.

Please note that multiple vShape sessions may be required to achieve the best results.

FAQ

Does a vShape procedure use anesthesia or numbing?

HiFu ultrasound devices like vShape are non-invasive and non-ablative, so there’s no need for anesthesia or numbing. This means a session is one of the most straightforward, hassle-free cosmetic procedures to improve skin health.

Is vShape safer than liposuction?

Many patients choose ultrasound skin tightening and fat reduction as a non-surgical alternative to other more involved cosmetic procedures. Liposuction can be more costly and may not suit every patient, so if you’re looking to address sagging skin but don’t want to go under the knife, vShape may be the solution you’re looking for.

How long does a vShape session take?

The length of a vShape procedure varies depending on the area of treatment. Some shorter procedures are around 30 minutes, while procedures with a larger treatment area may be completed in around an hour.
