Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) Overview

Blepharoplasty | Eyelid Surgery | Eyelid Lift | Brea | West Covina CABlepharoplasty, which is commonly known as eyelid surgery, is primarily an aesthetic procedure to restore a rejuvenated appearance of the eyelids that may have become droopy and tired looking due to any reasons. However, eyes are the most delicate external organ of the body, and any cosmetic surgery procedure around the eyes must be performed only by a highly qualified and experienced surgeon.

At Shine Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Daniel H. Lin, is a board certified facial plastic surgeon with specialized training and expertise in facial and other procedures. Dr. Lin uses state of the art surgical techniques to perform eyelid surgery as an outpatient procedure. He will remove the excess skin and bags from the eyes, and tighten the skin and muscles for either upper or lower or both eyelids, as the case may be.

Blepharoplasty also involves repositioning of excess fat to reduce the puffy appearance and fill the depressions, while diminishing wrinkles and folds at the same time. Dr. Lin receives patients from West Covina, Inland Empire, San Gabriel Valley, Chino, Rowland Heights, Baldwin Park, Whittier, Brea, Arcadia, Pasadena, Diamond Bar, and surrounding areas for eyelid surgery and other procedures.

Upper Eyelid Surgery

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty begins with the surgeon making a small incision along the upper eyelid crease. Dr. Lin will make the incision along the natural eyelid crease to minimize the scar appearance. Through the incision, he will excise loose skin to remove the droopy effect.

In some cases, excess fat removal may also be done through the incision. The incision will then be closed with fine sutures. Sometimes a forehead lift cosmetic surgery and upper eyelid lift may be performed in conjunction to achieve more comprehensive results.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

In a majority of cases, the plastic surgeon will perform lower eyelid blepharoplasty by making an incision just beneath the lash line of the lower eyelid. Excess skin and fat will be removed, and muscle tightening may also be performed through the incision. If the patient does not require muscle tightening, a transconjunctival surgery may be performed. In this case, the incision is made inside the lower eyelid, which makes the scar completely invisible.

Non-surgical procedures such as chemical peels or laser resurfacing may be combined with blepharoplasty to make the results appear more uniform and youthful. Patients in West Covina, Inland Empire, San Gabriel Valley, Chino, Rowland Heights, Baldwin Park, Whittier, Brea, Arcadia, Pasadena, Diamond Bar, and other locations have an opportunity to receive these procedures at Dr. Lin’s practice.

Ethnic Eyelid Surgery

Asian eyelid surgery, which is also known as double eyelid surgery, is a common procedure for people of Asian ethnicity in the US. Nearly half of the Asian people have slight or no crease in their upper eyelid, which makes it appear different from a Caucasian eyelid.

Dr. Lin provides double eyelid surgery for Asian patients who are keen to add a crease to their upper lids. He creates a natural looking fold in the upper eyelid when the eyes are open. The procedure is customized to meet the aesthetic needs of the patient, and the basic facial integrity is maintained at all times.
