Buttock Augmentation Procedure Steps | Glendale Cosmetic SurgeryButtock augmentation cosmetic surgery using fat transfer technique is now widely preferred because it involves smaller incisions, and produces more natural looking and sustainable results. During the pre-op consultation, the surgeon will explain the steps involved in the butt augmentation procedure.

Respectable, stellar, and board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Daniel Lin of Shine Cosmetic Surgery provides buttock augmentation to patients in West Covina, Inland Empire, San Gabriel Valley, Chino, Rowland Heights, Baldwin Park, Whittier, Brea, Arcadia, Pasadena, Diamond Bar and surrounding areas in California.

Anesthesia

General anesthesia is mostly used to perform a buttock augmentation cosmetic surgery. However, local anesthesia with IV sedation may also be applied in some cases. Once the patient is brought into the operating room, they will be placed under anesthesia before the procedure begins.

General anesthesia will be performed by an anesthesiologist or a registered nurse anesthetist. They will usually remain present throughout the procedure to monitor the patient’s response to anesthesia. The patient will be unconscious through the surgery and will not experience any pain.

Fat Removal from Donor Sites

The first stage in the buttock augmentation surgery after anesthesia will involve liposuction to remove excess fat from the abdomen or others areas such as the back, thighs or flanks. The surgeon will perform liposuction by creating very small incisions. A thin cannula will be inserted into the deeper fatty tissue layers through the incisions.

The surgeon will then manipulate the cannula carefully to dislodge stubborn fat deposits. Excess fat cells will be suctioned out through a syringe or pump attached to the outer end of the cannula. The surgeon will remove about three to four times the fat required for transfer to the buttocks from one or more donor sites to ensure that the right amount of purified fat is available for the buttock augmentation.

Fat Purification Process

Following the fat extraction from donor sites, the fat cells will go through a centrifugal process to separate purified fat. This process is automated as far as possible to ensure contamination-free fat.

Advanced techniques are now available to ensure that maximum fat tissue can be utilized for successful fat transfer and the results are more sustainable. Purified fat will be safely preserved until it is ready for transfer to the targeted buttock area using an injectable procedure.

Fat Transfer

Only the best tissue is used for injecting into the buttocks with slim cannulas at multiple depths for a natural look and feel. The number, depth, and amount of fat injections will depend on the fat transfer technique and the patient’s buttock augmentation goals. A higher number of small injections usually create a more uniform look.

Fat transfer procedure can be completed in a minimally invasive way to create fuller, rounder buttocks that appear naturally proportionate to the rest of the body. The procedure can be completed in about two hours.
