Botulinum Toxin (Botox) Recovery

by Dr. Daniel Lin

Botulinum Toxin (Botox) Recovery | Pasadena Plastic Surgery | BreaBotox is a widely accepted, FDA approved injection procedure to mitigate the facial signs of aging. Patients who want to avoid cosmetic surgery for the face may consider Botox injections. One of the key benefits of Botox over surgical procedures is that it involves minimal to no downtime and the patient does not have to go through a prolonged recovery process.

During the Botox consultation, the treatment provider will educate the patient about all aspects of this injection procedure. Patients should clarify any doubts or concerns at this stage and learn about potential risks and recovery aspects.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Daniel Lin provides Botox injections to patients in West Covina, Inland Empire, San Gabriel Valley, Chino, Rowland Heights, Baldwin Park, Whittier, Brea, Arcadia, Pasadena, Diamond Bar, and surrounding communities in this part of the geography of California.

‘Lunch Time’ Procedure

To ensure safe and desirable results with Botox injections, the patient should select a qualified Botox provider. A certified Botox expert can administer the Botox treatment in about 20 minutes on average. No significant pre- or post-treatment care will be involved.

This makes Botox more popular among busy moms and working individuals who want to avoid cosmetic surgery. Working people can simply make an appointment for Botox injections during their lunch hour from work, and return to their workplace after the procedure. Therefore, Botox is often called a ‘lunch time’ procedure.

Following Botox injections, the patient will be required to avoid lying down for about four hours. In this much time, the botulinum toxin type A will evenly spread in the affected areas. The patient should not rub the injection sites or perform strenuous exercises for about 12 to 24 hours after the treatment. Aside from these basic precautions, they can continue with their routine tasks at home or workplace.

Temporary Side Effects

Although Botox treatment involves no cuts or incisions, the injections may cause temporary redness and minor swelling in the treated sites. Some patients may also experience minor headaches for a while.

These side effects will usually dissipate in about two to three days, and the patient will not require any specific treatment. A day after the Botox injections, the patient may be permitted to wear makeup to cover the traces of minor bruising and swelling.

Patients should avoid vigorous exercises and workouts for a day or two after the Botox treatment. They will also be required to refrain from using blood thinning drugs such as aspirin and NSAIDs for a few days.

Results

Results will become noticeable immediately after the Botox procedure, but they will continue to improve over a week as the bruising and swelling subsides completely. Patients can usually enjoy the results of Botox for about three to four months.

Botox injections may be repeated in future for extended benefits, but it should be done under the supervision of a qualified provider. Accomplished and fantastic plastic surgeon Dr. Lin receives patients from West Covina, Inland Empire, San Gabriel Valley, Chino, Rowland Heights, Baldwin Park, Whittier, Brea, Arcadia, Pasadena, Diamond Bar, and nearby areas for Botox.
